Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HbOT) combines two key factors to enhance your body’s natural healing processes: increased oxygen purity and higher-than-normal pressure. This therapy is non-invasive, drug-free, and designed to promote healing and rejuvenation.
In our everyday environment, the air we breathe is composed of about 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, and 1% other gases. During a hyperbaric oxygen session, you breathe in 95% oxygen in a chamber that is pressurized to 1.4 ata (approximately one and a half times normal atmospheric pressure).
This combination of higher oxygen levels and increased pressure allows a greater amount of oxygen to dissolve in your bloodstream. The oxygen-rich blood is delivered to every cell in your body, including areas with restricted or reduced blood flow, which supports healing and regeneration.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can benefit a wide range of conditions and promote overall health by:
• Stimulating cellular repair and mitochondrial efficiency.
• Reducing inflammation and promoting healing in tissues and joints.
• Improving blood flow and oxygen delivery to damaged cells and organs, including the brain and liver.
• Supporting recovery from injury, illness, or surgery.

Your session at Joint Health Space is designed to be as comfortable and relaxing as possible:
1. Preparation: You’ll enter the chamber fully clothed through the unzipped top of the chamber. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing. Blankets are available if you’d like them or you can bring your own.
2. Pressurisation: The chamber is slowly pressurized to 1.4 ata, which may feel like a gentle pressure in your ears, similar to airplane travel.
3. Relaxation: During the session, you can read, listen to music, use your phone, or simply rest.
4. Completion: Once the session ends, the pressure is gradually released by a member of staff to ensure a smooth return to normal conditions.
Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes, with additional time for pressurisation and depressurisation.
• Wear comfortable clothing.
• Drink water before your session.
• Use the bathroom before entering the chamber.
• Bring a book, headphones, or other entertainment if you wish.
Yes, eating or drinking before your session is fine. However, we ask that you don’t eat inside the chamber for hygiene purposes.
You’re welcome to read, listen to music, or even nap. The room is equipped with an Alexa device, or you can bring your own music or book.
You may feel slight pressure in your ears during pressurisation (can take up to 8 mins), similar to ascending in an airplane. Once pressurised, most people find the experience very relaxing.
The room’s temperature can be adjusted to your preference via the air conditioning machine, and you can bring a blanket or wear warmer clothing if you’d like.
Some people feel slightly light-headed immediately afterward as their body adjusts, but this typically passes within a few minutes. Most clients report feeling refreshed and energised.
The benefits of HbOT are cumulative, with noticeable results often appearing after 3–4 sessions. However, the number of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals.
If you feel uncomfortable, you can press the emergency call button which you will have in the chamber with you and one of our staff will be through to see to you.
