Osteopath in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

At Joint Health Space, our Principal Osteopath in Mansfield, Craig Oswald, offers personalised osteopathy care to relieve pain, restore mobility, and support your overall well-being.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy at Joint Health Space is about more than treating pain, it’s about understanding you as a whole person. We take the time to listen, assess thoroughly, and uncover the underlying cause of your symptoms so that your recovery feels considered, not rushed.

Our osteopaths treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including back and neck pain, joint discomfort, postural strain, and sports-related injuries. Every consultation begins with a detailed conversation and assessment, allowing us to understand not only your symptoms, but your lifestyle, stress levels, activity habits, and goals.

Hands-on treatment may include joint articulation, mobilisation, and soft tissue therapy to ease tension and improve movement. However, lasting change comes from what happens beyond the treatment couch. That’s why we integrate personalised rehabilitation within our dedicated on-site rehab space, guiding you through tailored strength and movement work that supports long-term recovery.

We believe that feeling heard and cared for is just as important as clinical expertise. Our approach combines evidence-informed treatment with genuine compassion, ensuring you feel supported, reassured, and confident throughout your journey.

At Joint Health Space, osteopathy is not simply about resolving symptoms, it’s about restoring balance, building resilience, and helping you move through life with greater ease.

What to Expect:

Your First Appointment

Your first appointment with Craig lasts 60 minutes. He’ll begin with a thorough consultation covering your current symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and what you’re hoping to get out of treatment. This isn’t just box-ticking, it helps Craig build a full picture so he can treat the cause, not just the complaint.

He’ll then carry out a physical assessment, which may include watching how you stand and move, testing your range of motion, and hands-on examination of the relevant areas. He’ll explain what he’s finding as he goes and talk you through his plan before any treatment begins.

Treatment

Osteopathic treatment uses hands-on techniques to work with the muscles, joints, and connective tissues. Depending on what’s going on, this might include soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, stretching, or manipulation. Craig will explain each technique and check in with you throughout, nothing happens without your understanding and consent.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing so Craig can assess and treat you properly. You will remain clothed at all times. For lower back or hip problems, shorts or leggings are ideal. For neck or upper back issues, a vest or loose top helps. Craig will always explain what he needs to see and why before any assessment begins.

After Your Appointment

It’s common to feel some mild achiness for a day or two after treatment, this is normal and a sign your body is responding. Craig will give you clear aftercare advice, and most people notice an improvement within 24–48 hours. You may also be given some simple exercises or stretches to support your recovery between sessions.

Follow-up Appointments

Follow-up sessions are typically 45 minutes. Craig will review your progress at each visit and adjust your treatment plan accordingly. The number of sessions needed varies depending on your condition and how your body responds.

Let’s work together to achieve a pain-free life.
