Sports Therapy in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

What is Sports Therapy?

Sports therapy is hands-on healthcare for anyone dealing with injury, pain, or movement problems, not just elite athletes. Whether you’ve picked up a niggle playing football, you’re struggling with a recurring injury, or something just doesn’t feel right when you move, sports therapy gets to the root of it and helps you sort it out properly.

Sessions combine manual therapy, rehabilitation exercise, and movement retraining; all tailored to what your body actually needs, not a generic programme off a sheet.

What to Expect:

Your First Appointment

Your first sports therapy session with Olivia is 60 minutes. She’ll start by taking a full history of your injury or complaint, how it happened, how it’s been behaving, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to doing. From there she’ll carry out a thorough physical assessment to understand exactly what’s going on.

Treatment

Hands-on treatment starts in your first session. Depending on what’s needed, Olivia may use sports massage, manual therapy, dry needling, dry cupping, or therapeutic taping. She’ll put together a personalised rehab plan with progressive exercises to support your recovery between appointments.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing or bring shorts/vest if your injury involves the legs, hips, or shoulders. You will remain clothed throughout. Olivia will always explain what she needs to assess and will ensure you’re comfortable at every stage.

After Your Appointment

You may feel some tenderness in the treated area for a day or two, this is completely normal following sports massage or manual therapy. Olivia will give you clear aftercare guidance and your rehab exercises to take away.

Follow-up Appointments

Follow-up sessions are 45 minutes. Olivia will progress your rehabilitation at each appointment, building on what’s been achieved and keeping you moving in the right direction.
